Myasthenia Gravis and CBD
Myasthenia Gravis and CBD Oil
Myasthenia Gravis caused an enormous change in my life in 2008. Now, in 2019, I find the effects of using CBD Oil, making another change! The changes happening for the last seventeen months of having the CBD Oil, twice daily, are definitely for the better!
Since I discovered CBD Oil early in 2018 I have been learning about our endocannabinoid system! Our endocannabinoid receptors work so well with products from the Cannabis Sativa Plant.
Double-Vision – What Did I Do?
Eleven years ago, I began living life with double-vision. There were no accidents with trauma to my head, and I didn’t think of a neurologic disorder. I just realized one day that I saw double.
As soon as possible, I saw my eyeglasses doctor, my optometrist. He told me my eyes have a ‘prism’, and he can put something in my new prescription glasses to fix it!
Our optician who usually makes my new glasses read my prescription and asks what was going on with me? Thankfully, we were friends, and he cared enough to ask!
That is when Sam gave me a doctor’s name and phone number and said think about calling and telling them you see double. I called, and when I said I saw double, they said my appointment would be a priority! It would be in two weeks! Great!
The new glasses came, and I quickly found that wearing them gave me a headache! I tried wearing them just a few hours a day, but I couldn’t without a great deal of pain.
Myasthenia Gravis – Diagnosis
Time to see the new eye doctor, an ophthalmologist, and they measured and tested my eyes in new ways! Extremely thorough! Dr. Werthmeyer is an energetic, enthusiastic, professional with just the right mix of humor and seriousness. He can give you the bad news when you have to hear it.
“Janice, I want you to visit another doctor, a neurologist, for your diagnosis,” he answered when I asked.
That’s when I became persistent for I needed answers! Dr. Werthmeyer said, “Your neurologist needs to examine you for symptoms, and do bloodwork and tests to diagnose and confirm. Have you ever heard of Myasthenia Gravis?”
MG – Neurologists – Diagnosis Confirmed
Five weeks later, I saw the first neurologist for the MG and it was confirmed. This is the beginning of many neurology visits and tests to come. It is now 2019, but this first neurologist gave me only two and a half years to live back in 2008. My prognosis was not good for my anxiety was high and I had a PTSD diagnosis. I had been on hydrocodone since 1990 for chronic pain.
There has been a definite change in the outcome predicted for a Myasthenia Gravis patient in 2008, and what is told to the patient today! Different types of MG ask for various treatment plans and medications today. These were not so much available in 2008.
I saw a new neurologist last week due to a change in insurance plans, and he seems to be most helpful. Of course, I have been with a second neurologist since 2009, and she has been undoubtedly beneficial to my care. Dr. O’Brien has had me on MG medications and IVIGs for several years, and I’m sure they’re saving my life!
An MG Newsletter
I found a newsletter, MyastheniaGravisNews.com, that is full of articles of information written by medical professionals, MD patients, and MD Caregivers!
Reading, I found the National Institute of Health (NIH) had recently awarded the launch of a rare disease network called MGNet with $7.8 Million for the driving of research into Myasthenia Gravis. This effort will be led by experts from George Washington University, Yale University, and Duke University.
If you want to read more about this go to MyastheniaGravisNews.com. The article you’re looking for is NIH Awards $7.8M for Rare Disease Network to Advance Clinical Research in MG by Ana Pena, Phd., October 24, 2019.
Myasthenia Gravis Today with CBD

From the CBD Oil I take daily for anxiety and inflammation to the CBD Skin Care Products I use in my routine, CBD is a good part of my life.
Where Myasthenia Gravis and CBD are concerned, I know a woman with Myasthenia whose eyes are getting better with CBD!
