Unfortunately, it is easier said than done. In this article, I will cover many important questions you may be wanting to ask.
So if my son who lives with chronic pain caused by Tortion Dystonia goes to his own GP he can get a prescription for medicinal cannabis and script can be filled over pharmacy counter . I’m certain his own GP would come on board with this as she is very open minded and comes from either Germany or Holland . What is the cost of medicinal cannabis when script given by GP
Do you need a prescription for CBD oil?
The main challenge for patients from my experience is getting that script from your GP in the first place! You will find many doctors are either unwilling to write the prescription for CBD oil , or they are ill-informed about its use. It’s not surprising when you think about it, as we are never taught or trained about CBD oil or medicinal cannabis. Make sure before you have your GP appointment you read my article about how to ask your doctor for CBD Oil.
Hi Jared, thanks for the question. I understand that your GP is reluctant. But the good news is that we can help. We have many people using it for the reasons you have mentioned, each in their unique way. There are no specific criteria you need to meet, we are all open minded professionals looking to help people like you. With CBD oil, there are no concerns about drug testing as it does not get picked up. Even if you needed more than CBD oil, we always write letters of support for employers and can advocate on your behalf. Hope this helps!
My husband is needing a knee replacement but they won’t do it as he is 38. He takes antiflam’s each day and anti-nausea pills has he has a sensitive stomach. We are looking at an alternative to this. If he was prescribed CBD oil will this affect him as a builder? Also will it come up in drug tests etc?
After taking medical cannabis, it’s possible to develop any of the following side effects:
Epidyolex can be prescribed for patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome (both rare forms of epilepsy).
It’s expected this would only apply to a very small number of people in England.
Is medical cannabis safe?
Some cannabis-based products are available to buy over the internet without a prescription.
CBD can also affect how your liver works, so doctors would need to monitor you regularly.
It would only be considered when other treatments were not suitable or had not helped.
It will not get you high, because it does not contain THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the chemical in cannabis that makes you high.
If your doctor is knowledgeable and willing, count yourself lucky. That said, they are unlikely to have time to educate you on all of the ins-and-outs of medical cannabis, or help you decide which licensed producer to register with. Nor are they likely to have staff at their clinic who can help.
You can think of this service as a mobile clinic. The nurse will come to your home, provide education, take a medical history and connect with a doctor or Nurse Practitioner to obtain the authorization. She will also help you select an appropriate product and develop a detailed treatment plan and dosing schedule. She will then help register you with a licensed producer so you can order products by phone or on-line, and will follow up with you semi-weekly while you work toward your goal.
Your doctor or specialist
Over the past few years a number of specialized cannabis clinics have opened up. These are typically staffed by doctors who work there on a part-time basis. These doctors may come from specialties including psychiatry, surgery, and anesthesiology. This means that some patients may see a heart surgeon for their arthritis! But really, bless these doctors for making time to learn about cannabis and help people.
There are four ways to get a prescription for CBD oil or other medical cannabis products:
The cost for this service is usually fully-covered by insurance as a home nursing expense.
