State laws often contradict federal laws when it comes to marijuana. Unfortunately, North Carolina has some of the harshest marijuana laws in the United States.
Penalties for Marijuana Possession in North Carolina
According to the Federal Government, marijuana is a Schedule 1 drug, which means it has the following qualities:
This means that North Carolina medical marijuana patients need to purchase their medicine in another state that allows out-of-state medical marijuana cards.
The Act allows a very limited number of patients to participate in a study at the University of North Carolina to research the effects of CBD on epilepsy patients. The CBD oils used in the study are also limited. They must contain a minimum CBD content of 10% and less than 0.3% THC.

We grow our hemp in Colorado and North Carolina. We chose these areas to grow our hemp due to the nutrient density of the soils in these areas. After harvesting our plants, we put them through a process whereby undesirable elements like chlorophyll are removed and all of the beneficial compounds that make our products so effective are extracted and maintained intact. Terpenes, fatty acids, and flavonoids are among the beneficial compounds that we are sure to retain during processing – as well as over 100 cannabinoids. All of these compounds together create a synergistic effect, giving you a full-spectrum product that is second to none.
Isn’t CBD the Same as Marijuana?
Actually, “no.” CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, technically is a component that can be found in, and extracted from, both the hemp or marijuana plant. The main difference between these two plants is the presence or virtual absence of the powerful cannabinoid THC – the active ingredient and psychotropic element in marijuana that gives you that feeling of being “high.” Hemp plants contain 0.3% or less THC; marijuana plants contain a good bit more. In the Farm Bill of 2018, the Federal Government made CBD legal to produce as long as it contains 0.3% THC or less. Therefore, we use only phytocannabinoid-rich hemp plants (and the resulting CBD oil) as the basis for our product line.
